Livia Giaffreda & Nino Conte, Katerina Douka & Stamatis Pasopoulos (ita-gr)

Livia Giaffreda builds her repertoire on the frame drum and her voice, starting from oral Mediterranean traditions to which she gives a contemporary reading. She has performed with Redi Hasa, among others, and toured a solo concert series under the name Piel. At this concert she is accompanied on accordion.

Katerina Douka began singing and dancing in a student dance group in Thessaloniki, before devoting herself fully to rebetiko in 2007 — the urban folk music that emerged in the port districts of Greece, steeped in migration and longing. Since 2010 she and Stamatis Pasopoulos have formed the duo ραδυόφωνο (radiophone), dedicated to songs from the 1930s: twenty years of musical partnership.
