The concept
A musical walk brings walkers and musicians together in a landscape. You walk a few kilometres through woodland, heath, village or heritage site, and along the way you hear short acoustic performances: beside a stream, at a chapel, on a hill.
Musical walks have been part of Merodefestival since the first edition in 2015. We have learned what works: small groups, acoustic music and respect for the surroundings.
How it works
1. Choose a walk.
- 3 km with 2 artists
- 5 km with 3 artists
- a festival walk of 7 to 8 km with four musical stops
2. Choose a starting point. Together we find the ideal starting point, taking your practical requirements into account.
3. Enjoy. We take care of the artists and the organisation: route, parking, catering and liaising with landowners.
Done before
In 2025 the walks passed through Westmeerbeek, Langdorp, Tongerlo and Veerle-Heide. For ‘Ode aan de Merode’ we created eight walks in the Landscape Park, and in our walking podcast folk musicians take you along on their way.
Musical walks is a concept by Merodefestival (WESP vzw), with the support of the Flemish Government, arts & heritage.
